Result of over-parenting – Tao inspired parenting – Chapter 9

Tao Te Ching - Chapter 9

Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill.

Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt.

Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench.

Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner.

Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.

- Stephen Mitchell's translation from Tao Te Ching (The book of the way)

Tao inspired parenting

Teach your child too much, and she will switch off listening to you. Any child doesn’t like teaching, preaching or lecturing. Keep it short and simple.

Keep disciplining your child, and she will turn rebel. Allow freedom to learn from her mistakes.

Give your child too many facilities and comfort and her heart will not open up for the simpler beauty of life. Hence avoid exposure to technology so that she can enjoy nature.

Praise and reward your child too much, and she will always do things for people’s approval (prisoner of rewards)

Work towards building a harmonious relationship with your child and that is all there to the parenting. There is no result to achieve or no place to reach. That is the parenting bliss!

Here is an article about how to teach a child.
